This project took me down many different roads as I worked through each piece. In my initial creation for my project, I worked with my roommate to create a character based loosely on her and what she looks like. Using photoshop I tried out various methods to make the character look slightly less than human. I tried out different brushes to make texture and coloring over both her skin and hair. Blending different images together, I turned each photoshop piece into a sort of postcard that my character would send home to her family. When I began on the illustrator aspect, I realized I could not use the same methods to make her look the way I wanted. Instead, I used that disadvantage to give my character more personality. The illustrator side of the project are pictures that my character would post on social media, editing them herself to make her features appear less out of the norm and what would fit in with the people around her. This side took on a more artistic approach rather than a faux one, making each piece a little memory she made with her friends while traveling around Earth. Overall, I had a lot of fun working out how each aspect of both photoshop and illustrator worked, and I am happy with the outcome as I have no prior experience using these programs. I think in the future I would like to spend a little more time paying attention to the smaller details and blending each image into the total piece in a smoother manner.

The standard resolution for images made for the web is 72. The standard resolution for images made for print is 300. The 2 types of files should you always save are a working file, or a psd for works in progress or future editing; and a usable file, for when the project is ready to post or share.
